A woman has been killed in violent circumstances in Ballymun, north Dublin, with early indications she may have suffered knife wounds.
It is understood the victim was a middle-aged woman and that she was fatally injured in the north Dublin suburb on Tuesday afternoon.
The scene where the woman was killed has been sealed off and the victim’s remains have been left in place at the property pending the arrival of a pathologist.
Garda sources told The Irish Times the investigation was still in its infancy, adding it may take some time before the full details around the victim’s death were established. However, gardaí believe she died a violent death.
No arrests had been made by early evening but all the resources of a homicide investigation have been committed to the case by gardaí in Ballymun.
