Rico Henry claims Brentford are Manchester United’s ‘equals’ ahead of Premier League clash

Brentford defender Rico Henry has claimed that the Bees will go into their match with Manchester United as ‘equals’.

The London club have enjoyed an impressive debut season in the top flight of English football and look set to avoid the drop. Victories over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and against Arsenal have resulted in Thomas Frank’s team reaching the golden 40-point tally with four games remaining.

United, meanwhile, have suffered another disappointing campaign and will once again finish trophyless. They are six points off the top four and are staring at a season without Champions League football for Erik ten Hag’s first campaign.

Speaking to Brentford’s website after a draw against Tottenham Hotspur, Henry claimed that the Bees have a chance against any opposition. He explained: “Obviously playing with and against top players you learn a lot in every game and I’ve learned a lot from the past few games.

“We’ve been solid and we’ll take that into the next game. The gaffer is always saying to me ‘get up and down the wing and we’ll create chances’, and that’s what we did against Spurs. We’re facing sides as equals. We know that because we were disappointed not to win at the weekend.”
