Once home to the famous Crescent flats, Hulme is an area which has been repeatedly redeveloped.

A popular area for families and students alike, a lot has changed in Hulme through the generations – as captured in these rediscovered photos.

From the terraces lost to slum clearance in the 1960s, the council estates of the 1970s and 1980s, and the community celebrations of the 1990s, these images, unearthed from our archives Mirrorpix, are a real trip back in time.
