Manchester United ‘keen’ on £45.8m Christopher Nkunku deal and other transfer rumours

Manchester United and Manchester City are reportedly ‘keen’ on signing RB Leipzig attacker Christopher Nkunku.

German news outlet SportBild report that the French attacker is ‘promoting himself’ in time for a potential summer move.

According to the report, both he and Spain international Dani Olmo are open to leaving Leipzig at the end of the season.

Nkunku has been in fine form this season, notching his 20th goal of the campaign in Leipzig’s Europa League draw with Real Sociedad on Thursday night.

It’s understood that the 24-year-old doesn’t have a release clause in his current deal and is valued at around €55m (£45.8m)

Nkunku is a versatile attacker, capable of playing in a number of advanced midfield roles as well as up front.

Meanwhile, Roma are said to be exploring the possibility of signing United defender Eric Bailly in the summer.

The Ivorian was one of a number of players linked with a move away in the January transfer window but he remained at Old Trafford with Ralf Rangnick’s defensive options limited.

Bailly is currently looking to regain fitness after reporting back for club duty with an injury picked up at the Africa Cup of Nations.

The defender has made just seven appearances this season and Jose Mourinho’s side, according to Il Romanista, are desperate to sign a new centre-back, with Bailly one of their main targets.
