Doctor Khumalo has suggested that Bafana Bafana are failing to bring back the old glory days because of the lack of leadership at SAFA.
Addressing the media at Ria Ledwaba’s supposed briefing on Tuesday, Khumalo said there was no way Bafana Bafana could have qualified for the 2022 FIFA World Cup finals without their best players.
Khumalo said Sundowns have the best team and the best players ever yet Hugo Broos overlooks the majority of them, especially when it comes to important matches.
He made reference to the final qualifier match which Bafana Bafana controversially lost 1-0 away to Ghana in 2021 as the perfect example.
In his own words, Khumalo said there was no way Bafana Bafana would have came back from Ghana with positive results with the likes of Ethan Brooks of TS Galaxy selected ahead of the likes of Andile Jali.
And he feels the presence of former Bafana Bafana players in SAFA leadership positions would have made a huge difference as they would have guided and advised coach Hugo Broos.
DOCTOR KHUMALO POINTS BAFANA BAFANA FAILURE TO LACK OF SAFA LEADERSHIP
“You can’t shy away from what Sundowns are doing. The best team ever. They’ve got the best players ever,” Khumalo told the media.
“And how do you go a serious match and sacrifice South Africans and not the national team? And you leave out players that I strongly believe would have made the difference.”
“Because there is no way Ethan Brooks could play away against Ghana and give us results whereas Andile Jali is out there; an experienced player.
Khumalo added: “But with the help of legends and masters, it would have made a difference.”
