Described as a “casual fine dining restaurant offering modern American fare,” the eatery’s menu lists 12 items, from octopus and beetroot to duck and Atlantic cod.
According to Eater Boston, the restaurant has been in the works for the past two and a half years.
At its helm is chef and owner Shi Mei, who’s worked for Thomas Keller’s acclaimed restaurants, The French Laundry and Bouchon, as well as Jason Dady’s Bin 555 as chef de cuisine and later director of operation.
Mei is joined by Yesid Areiza, a former sous chef at Tiger Mama, Shepard, ASTA, and Whaling in Oklahoma.
According to The Boston Globe, Mei christened the restaurant with the name he planned to give his first child — if he had been born a she.
It’s a small space, which is exactly what Mei wanted, he told Eater.
He looked for a place “where I can cook and it really feels like you’re eating in my home kitchen,” he told the website.
Initially, Lenox Sophia will serve dinner only, Wednesday through Sunday, from 5 to 10 p.m., according to its website. The restaurant isn’t taking reservations or providing takeout and delivery.
Eater said the restaurant is working to obtain a liquor license.
