Jodie Turner-Smith Loves Seeing Joshua Jackson as the “Sex Symbol” He Is

Jodie Turner-Smith is just as excited about Joshua Jackson‘s on-screen projects as she is about her own.

The model and actress, who currently stars alongside Colin Farrell in Kogonada’s latest film, After Yang, can’t help raving about her “sex symbol” husband while chatting with Vanity Fair about her new role, as well as the news that Jackson will star in a Paramount+ series re-imagining of Fatal Attraction

“I can’t wait to see my husband fucking on screen again. Did you watch The Affair? I’m like, let’s go,” Turner-Smith laughs.

Jackson is set to star in the TV adaptation alongside Lizzy Caplan, recreating the roles of the ill-fated lovers played by Michael Douglas and Glenn Close in the original film.

“He’s sexy. And look, obviously it’s pretty dark, Fatal Attraction…and he’s not a good guy. He fucks around on his wife, and only because she goes nuts does he sort of figure out that he needs to redeem himself,” Turner-Smith adds. “But… I love to see him do stuff where he can continue to lean into the idea of him as the sex symbol that he is, because he’s a sex symbol.”

Turner-Smith also feels fortunate to play opposite Farrell in Kogonada’s sci-fi drama, which follows a family that struggles to reconnect after their A.I. helper (and their daughter’s best friend), Yang (Justin H. Min), breaks down.

Though she’s a fan of Kogonada’s work, the Queen and Slim star almost missed her chance to try out for the film.

“I flew to New York to do this audition. It kind of was like a series of unfortunate events where I couldn’t get the flight I was supposed to get, so I didn’t end up getting there until the day after. But Colin waited for me,” she says. Once she finally made it to New York, Turner-Smith read with Farrell; within hours, she was offered the role. Clearly, she and Farrell have a connection.

From the Everett Collection.

“I loved working with Colin. I think I was so lucky to have him for a leading man right after Daniel Kaluuya, who I just thought, there’s no going up from this. After I worked with Daniel, I was like, where else does one go? Daniel is just such an incredible human being and a true leading man. And I’m happy to say that Colin also falls in that category,” she says.
