Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has already explained how Jurrien Timber would have a positive impact on the Old Trafford dressing room.
Problems within the United squad have been reported for some time with the likes of Roy Keane and Gary Neville calling for the club to fix said issues before they have any chance of making progress. United’s dressing room will look a lot different next season to the one Ralf Rangnick inherited during his interim tenure.
The likes of Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard, Nemanja Matic and Juan Mata have all announced their departures in recent weeks. These players will need to be replaced by Ten Hag and the Dutchman will need to recruit the right personalities if he is to enjoy a successful first season in charge.
When speaking about Timber earlier this season, Ten Hag spoke in glowing terms about the impact Timber had had both on and off the field: “He (Timber) could even play at left-back or in central midfield.
“He will not immediately be the leader of the Ajax first team, but he dares to speak out immediately and has not been shy in the dressing room. Those are important qualities to get far.”
A criticism often levelled at the United squad is that they lack leaders. If Ten Hag’s comments are anything to go by, this might not be the case for long should Timber sign at Old Trafford.
